This blog hosts insights and lessons from my 3 apos Sabine (born 2003), Gabriela (2004), and Camila (2009), plus glimpses from my previous life, stories about my wonderful husband Greg, beautiful daughters Kitinn and Kriscia, favourite son-in-law Carlo, and not to forget our constant source of dog hair – Chelsea, Jackie and Amber as seen in the picture above – and later Evie (adopted May 2013) after Chelsea passed on.
Nanay (Filipino for mother) is what I trained my grandkids to call me instead of the traditional Filipino Lola, or Aussie Nanna or Grandma. Why? It’s a tribute to my own mother and a belated antidote to my frustration of not being called Nanay by my own daughters. It’s a long story which I can explain some other time.
I’m blogging so that I can finally put into writing some of the wonderful things that I come across from my family. I’d like Greg, Kitinn and Kriscia to be able to read my mind through this blog, instead of second-guessing me as I so often stay mum about my thoughts. I hope too that Sabine, Gaby and Camila will one day appreciate my garbled mind, and be charmed by their young innocence which I’ll try to capture here.
